‘The journey of things’

Artworks for picturebook idea/concept*

Medium: Gouache, watercolour and colour pencils.

‘The journey of things’ tells the story of Lenny, a young boy who, unaware of the waste he is producing, meets some very special creatures who teach him about the value of things and help him to grow an awareness about the amount of natural resources people use in their daily lives. This book reflects on ideas of consumerism, waste, use of natural resources, the environment, how things are made and seeks to encourage readers to be more conscientious about how much time, effort and energy things take to be made or grown.

‘Letters to our younger selves’

Artworks for short comic style story

Medium: Acrylic ink and Adobe Photoshop.

‘Letters of our younger selves’ is the result of a collaboration between Anglia Ruskin students from the Arts and Sports Science Faculties. This short story illustrates a letter written by a final year student as if they were giving advice to their younger, first year selves. It reflects on the idea of not allowing expectations set us back and instead accept things as they are without needing them to be any different than reality.

This project was supervised by Dr Francesca Cavallerio and Dr Becky Palmer, both academics at Anglia Ruskin University. More information about it can be found on Visual stories: Letter to our younger selves.
